Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

It is hard to believe that we have officially wrapped up our fall sports season this month of November and began our winter sports just last week. Time surely does fly fast. Here's a recap of the fall sports season:

The season began with our both of elementary and high school cross country representing well at each race and categories. A big shout out to Violet and Nikki! Both athletes represented our school proudly at the Cross Country Provincials in Yorkton. Violet placed 45th out of 108 runners, and Nikki finished 23rd out of 84 runners. Each of them achieved the personal goals they set for this race — a fantastic accomplishment at the provincial level! 👏 We’re so proud of your effort, dedication, and sportsmanship!elem x country

An amazing season to both our B boys and girls volleyball team as they faced off some tough opponents this fall and was able to overcome many of them. Great job to both teams and also to their coaches (Mr. Gutek, Mrs. Thorn, & Ms. Revell). Thank you all for your hard-work and perseverance in investing to our student athletes. The future looks very bright in our volleyball program! b vball

We are so proud of these young ladies as they battled hard all season earning a spot in the bronze medal A Girls City Finals game against Coteau Hills. They came out hard, winning game one! Sadly they ended up losing the next two games. There was a ton of growth and learning this season and we look forward to cheering these ladies on in the years to come. Way to make us proud, Lady Falcons & Coach Wonnick!a girls vball

A huge congrats goes out to our JV boys volleyball team as they defeated a tough Riverview Royals team in the Moose Jaw JV Volleyball Championships! After losing set one to CCS 19-25, the Royals bounced back to take very close 2nd set 25-23. It was a see-saw battle to the end of the 3rd set as each battled for each point. In the end it was Cornerstone who prevailed and captured the crown of JV Boys Champions winning 17-15. Even though we were down, our Falcons kept their heads up high. Great job, boys & coaches, in finishing strong and capturing the first city title since 2013.

Our sr. girls had an awesome volleyball season finishing 2nd in cities, silver in both 2A conferences and regionals then wrapping it up by being fourth in the province! Congrats, ladies (as well as coaches- Mr. Behrns and Jimmy) on a well fought provincial tournament in Wadena/Foam Lake! A special shout out to our seniors: Ademide, Payton and Izzy for representing Cornerstone so well throughout the years. We are definitely going to miss their contribution to CCS athletics but more importantly their example to the rest of the student body. Keep shining that light, ladies!

I'm so proud of each of our student athletes this fall season and their accomplishments both personal and organizational.  I'm looking forward to our winter sports here at CCS with curling and basketball both in high gear.  Let's go, Falcons!
