As the Olympics in Vancouver draw to a close and we have time to reflect on the accomplishments of our Canadian athletes as individuals and as a whole, bringing in 14 gold medals - more than any other country at any Olympic games. The regional playoffs are happening this Friday, March 12, 8:00 p.m. at Riverview Collegiate. If they win that game the next game will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and with that win, they would be off to HOOPLA!!!! Let's cheer our team onto victory!

The CCS library is participating in a Living Books club program! If you would like to purchase one of the great books or other items advertised in the flyers distributed this week (one per family for students in Preschool to Grade 6) just fill in the order form in the middle of the flyer and return it with payment – a cheque payable to Linda Warburton – to your child’s classroom teacher by Friday, March 12.
As soon as the books arrive at the school I will give them to the classroom teachers for distribution. Our school library will earn 20% back in quality Christian books!
If you didn’t get a book club flyer and would like to have a look at it or the complete Living Books catalogue, both are in the library and you are welcome to come browse through them. Please feel free to phone Susan Bergen at the school if you have any questions.
On Wednesday, March 17, the High School SRC will be a holding a St. Patrick's Day Lunch for Kindergarten to Grade 12 Students. the cost of this lunch is $3.00 and includes green pancakes, sausage, a cupcake and green Kool-Aid. THIS WILL BE THE ONLY MEAL SERVED IN THE CANTEEN THAT DAY AND MONEY CAN BE TAKEN FROM THE STUDENT'S CANTEEN ACCOUNT.Elementary students must pre-order by Thursday, March 11 by handing in their order form and money to their teacher.
Cornerstone School is holding a USED CHILDREN/MATERNITY CLOTHING AND TOY SALE on Saturday, April 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the school gym. CONSIGNERS AND VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
There is a $5.00 registration fee for consigners and the percentage of the clothing sale would be 70% for consigners and 30% for the school. Volunteers are needed for set-up. Contact Kristie Thorn at 692.6639 or by email

CCS drama students will be performing their one act play "I Never Saw Another Butterfly" on Monday March 22 at 7:00 p.m. in our school gymnasium. The play centers around a Jewish girl who lived in a concentration camp with her family and friends during World War II, while retaining a world filled with butterflies and flowers. Tickets are $5.00 each and can be purchased from any drama student, from the school office or at the door. Bring your friends and family and come watch a very inspiring story.
Our students will also be performing this play in our Regional Drama Festival later that week (more details to follow).
Parents, siblings, grandparents, etc. are invited to come tour the Learning Fair on Wednesday, March 24 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Pre-School to Grade 6 students are involved and will have their displays set up in their homerooms.
Cornerstone Christian School Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel. If interested, we have a copy of the AGM minutes from last year available to read in the school office. Re-admission forms will be on hand at the AGM. If you are not able to attend, these forms will be available at the main office after the AGM. All re-admission forms must be handed into the office no later than Wednesday, May 5. WE WILL BE OPENING ANY REMAINING SEATS TO NEW STUDENTS AFTER THIS DATE.
There will be elections to the CCS Board. You are welcome to nominate members from within our Cornerstone family to stand for election to the board. Names for nominations can be emailed to Tom Hansen
or you may drop by the administration office for a nomination form. The deadline for submission is Wednesday, March 31.
